We all have heard buzz about the Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh and their latest location in Kuwait. There is also the ultra-fierce Maison Moschino in Milan which is set to open later this month and Betsey Johnson’s Eloise-inspired rooms at The Plaza Hotel in NYC. The latest designer to add hotels to her belt is Diane Von Furstenberg who is set to design some rooms at Cladridge’s in London and Giorgio Armani has hotels lined up for New York, Dubai and London. We’ve also got the ridiculously luxe Palazzo Versace in Australia and later Dubai.
For a tropical fix, there is Tortuga Bay in the Dominican Republic which has design touches by Oscar De La Renta and The Round Hill Hotel in Jamaica by Ralph Lauren, who is also a shareholder. Karl Lagerfeld and Victoria Beckham are going to be designing a hotel in Dubai and we’re almost scared about how fierce that duo is. Lastly, we can’t forget The Hotel in Miami, designed by Tod Oldham, The Hotel-Fashion Designer pioneer, having added the accomplishment to his repertoire back in 1999.
All this does is make me really stressed out, I feel like I have the duty of staying at every single one of these hotels. My fellow editor and I are absolutely obsessed with travel, so our wallets are in a scary predicament when booking reservations because as of now, it seems as though designer hotels are the only hotels we will be checking into. I mean, it only makes sense right? Now someone donate us some money!
