I Tried It: JLo's Holy Grail Rose Face Cream
Jennifer Lopez was once rumored to basically swim in La Mer thanks in part to that one show The Fabulous Life of. You know? The one had to go away when the recession happened because people were like, REALLY? Anyway, I think I'm one of the many that kind of got excited when Jlo put those rumors to rest on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. When asked about her holy grail moisturizer, Jennifer actually said it was basically some sort of "rose cream from Whole Foods." Rose cream? Whole Foods? What brand though? Luckily, the Internet let me know: Dr. Hauschka's Rose Day Cream. She's 45 and looks incredible so I decided to get my ass to Whole Foods stat.
Skin type: Formerly oily; Currently Dry-to Normal.
Age: Late 20s
At first, I was like, damn this stuff is thick, like too thick. It was nearly impossible to apply the way one would with a basic moisturizer.
I then found out the proper way to apply the moisturizer; first you squeeze a pea size out, rub it together in your hands lightly just so it's more pliable, and then dab it all around your face. Next, you fan the product up with your fingers – kind of in the way an esthetician so tenderly does during a facial.
I saw a difference in my skin the next day. It just looked more supple and healthy in general. My skin also looked more "full" if that even makes any sense. Not too many facial fillers full but, healthy full. It doesn't clog my problematic pores, it brightens and evens out my complication in ways other moisturizers can't . Did I mention that it actually moisturizes? I don't have really dry skin but, every mature person with great skin I know, credits their smooth complexion to moisturizing, a lot . Apparently, the moister the skin, the harder it is to wrinkle. IDK if that's true but I'm just gonna pretend. I can't picture myself living without this product now or turning to another moisturizer, period.
▸ Almost totally natural as it doesn't contain many harmful chemicals and additives.
▸ It's easy accessible; you can get it at whole foods and sometimes on sale. It retails at $42 which isn't that bad for a youth cream, especially if you compare it to La Mer.
▸ A little goes a long way. You don't really need a lot of it. Master the application and you won't waste as much.
▸ It works great as an under-eye cream too.
▸ If you have oily skin, this may work better for you as a night cream.
▸ Apply to your neck in an upward motion as well.
▸ Watch this video if you need help with the application process.
