For those who haven’t seen it yet, here’s a trailer of the Yves Saint Laurentdocumentary we’ve all been waiting to cross the shore,L’Amour Fou. It chronicles the designer’s business/intimate relationship with Pierre Bergé and even gives a look into the 2009 Christie’s auction of his elaborate art collection. For the YSL-obsessed (raises hand), this should be an insightful look into the relationship he had with Bergé, whom some speculate played the role of nurse and business parter versus love of Laurent’s life. You might have to bring the tissue to this one.
The movie opened in New York last week and will hit Los Angeles on May 20th.
Last night a friend and I decided we were in the mood to catch a movie and if you’ve seen movie listings this week, you know the stuff that’s airing at the mainstream cinema is disappointing so we opted to go our the local indie/foreign theatre to watch Bill Cunningham New York, a documentary about The New York Times “On the Street” photographer.
While some of you may not recognize his name, you are surely familiar with Bill’s work and in this film we learn how Cunningham got his start as fashion’s pioneering and most-respected street style photographer as well as personal look into the absolutely adorable, 80-something-year-old man’s life.
If that didn’t get you excited, Anna Wintour, who happens to be a total softy when it comes to Bill Cunningham makes a cameo in the film as well as Tom Wolfe, Patrick McDonald, Annette De La Renta (Oscar’s wife), Carmen Dell’Orefice, Michael Kors and Editta Sherman.
Warning: You will fall in love with Bill and have the urge to hunt him down on his little bike and squeeze him…hard. And let me just tell you…you haven’t seen anyone light up when they talk about fashion like Bill does and his passion had me shedding a few tears. Yeah, I know. I’m a big wussy.
“I’m getting ready maybe to make an independent film myself. I’m thinking of maybe picking up a camera [and directing],” Wang told the site.
Exactly why does Vera want to do film?
“Because I can, because I think it’s a great time,” she said. “I think in our fashion shows, we always try to tell a story even though it’s nine or 10 minutes, and to take it to another level with 3 dimension or 4 dimension is kinda groovy.”
Hmm, it sure would be interesting to see what Vera comes up with.
Star of Tom Ford’s first film A Single Man, Colin Firth, tells Moviefone: ”I do know that he has plans to make another movie. I consider him a very good friend, but he won’t give anything away to me about what the film is. I know, whatever it is, it’s gonna be very different from ‘A Single Man.’ I’m jealous of whoever’s going to be in it.”
Since Colin won’t be in the film so my vote goes for Alexander Skarsgard to star in it… even if it’s a female lead role.
A documentary style movie about Tupac Shakur will start production in November now that director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) has found his team of oscar-nominated writers to work with.
The film will focus on the late rapper’s last day as well as flash back four years before his life was taken.
“He saw the contradiction between the musical persona of ‘Thug Life,’ and his essential nature as a gentle, sensitive person. And that was partly responsible for his murder: He was not a gangster, but the people around him were,” said one of the film’s screenwriters, Stephen J. Rivele.
Mrs. Johnny Depp, aka model and singer, Vanessa Paradis stars in a French film dubbed L’Arnacoeur (The Heartbreaker). Paradis plays an heiress caught between two men – her very rich fiancé, and a Casanova hired by her father to break up their engagement. Three reasons to watch: It’s French, story line makes for the perfect rom-com, and the wardrobe looks like it’s going to be le shit. It didn’t hit major theatres in the states but the dvd is set to be released here on July 27th.
Sarah Jessica Parkerrevealed that while shooting Sex and the City 2, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis all slept in the same bed together.
“Being away for that long made our bond even closer and I think you can see that on screen. We lived together, ate every single meal together, stayed in one dressing room together – we sometimes slept in the same bed together,” said Parker.
She even revealed her least favorite scene from the upcoming Sex and The City 2. That scene would be performing a karoake version of “I Am Woman.”
Looks like movie about a cocaine-dazzling champagne-raining party with models smashing older men. The entire film is set to air before Chanel’s Resort Wear show in St. Tropez tomorrow. What’s your take on the trailer?
According to British Vogue, the plot of Sex and The City 2 is the best kept secret in movie history. However, that’s all because of the massive fine that the cast would have to pay if any one of them leaks it. A whopping £1.6 million must be paid should they let any of the plot details slip.
Kim Cattrall almost had to pay up when she was photographed holding the script and some of the text was visible. “I thought: “You have got to be kidding! This isn’t state secrets, it’s the f****** script for a movie!” It’s crazy. You really have to be careful because I’ve signed my life away to say I won’t tell. It gets to the point where you’re terrified to carry your script around in case someone catches a glimpse of it,” said Cattrall.
We will all find out soon enough when the movie is released on May 28th!
