Dolce & Gabbana Getting Rid of D&G Line?

RIP D&G

According to WWD, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are scrapping their diffusion line D&G and incorporating it into their Dolce and Gabbana collection.

The duo say that they want to do this so they can give even more strength and energy to their collections which totally makes sense.

Galliano Found Guilty

Guilty

John Galliano was found guilty of ”public insults based on origin, religious affiliation, race or ethnicity” in a French court today. The designer got into deep shit when he was running around Paris going on and on about how much he loved Hitler and hated Jewish people.

Earlier he released a statement saying: “Antisemitism and racism have no part in our society. I unreservedly apologize for my behavior in causing any offense.” Changed man? We’d like to hope so.

Galliano‘s potential sentence was a fine of over $30k but he was charged a suspended fine of over $8k today and that pretty much means it’ll go on his criminal record but he doesn’t really have to pay it. Um, yeah, we don’t get it either.

Alber Elbaz: ‘I don’t take drugs because if I did I’d love them’

I’m a funny guy no?

“You start to understand why some designers do strange things, why some designers talk to themselves, you have to find a way of dealing with it all. I don’t take drugs because if I did I’d love them — I’d be a junkie. And because I’m Jewish, I’d probably be a dealer too.”

Karl Lagerfeld to Get Down With Snoop Dogg in New Music Video

Look at his teddy bear! Of course K-Lag is gangster.

Yup yup. K-Lag was spotted decked in all white while shooting a scene at a St. Tropez cafe with nightclub impresario Jean Roch for Snoop Do-Double-Gizzle’s new music video for a song called St. Tropez. Uncle Karl is rumored to be directing the clip too!

Does this one-up Kanye‘s collaborations with Ricardo Tisci? I dunno but we can’t wait to see this sh*t.

So Marc Jacobs is Probably Gonna Replace Galliano at Dior…

It’s me bitches!

Alright reports all over the damn internet are saying that Marc Jacobs will totally be replacing John Galliano at Dior.

Marc’s contract at Louis Vuitton is almost coming to an end and now LVMH is trying to convince him to take on Dior before they renew him for another stretch at LV.

If he accepts, Jacobs will head over to Dior with his business partner Robert Duffy and in turn the incredible Pheobe Philo of Céline will take his place at Louis Vuitton.

Who saw this one coming?

Giambattista Valli For Macy’s After K-Lag is Done

Who's going to take over Macy's? Yup, Me.

After Karl Lagerfeld‘s six week stretch is done with at Impulse for Macy’s, the incredible Giambattista Valli will be stepping in to take over his place.

The collection is said to contain everything from cocktail dresses to casual t-shirts and will be hitting 250 Macy’s stores on October 26th.

Manolo Blahnik Needs to Calm Down with this Platform Hate Talk [VIDEO]

Ugh, platforms are the bane of my existence.

So remember earlier this year when some publication asked Manolo Blahnik what trend he was excited to see go and he revealed his distaste for platform shoes? Well, he isn’t over that sh*t.

In a this video for the documentary we mentioned earlier, God Save My Shoes, Manolo bitches about platforms or furniture shoes (haha, brilliant phrase) as he likes to call them, again.

Why? Maybe because he doesn’t make platforms and in turn this might have taken a toll on his income? Who knows? Has he ever tried to walk in a pair of his own stilettos? If so, he would understand why we are obsessed with platforms. Just embrace them Manolo, embrace them.

Line We Heart: Radenroro [Interview Included]

Indonesian-born designer Liquica Anggraini is the brains behind cult womenswear label, Radenroro. Focusing on fashion forward design, whilst simultaneously retaining a timeless appeal, ensures each piece withstands fleeting seasonal trends.

Fall/Winter 2011 sees a collection full of beautifully executed, feminine designs, offset with unexpected elements. Demure, lady like midi dresses are backless, whilst separates come layered for a mix and match look.

As well the innovative collections which are being produced each season, the brand also display a refreshing take on the design process. With each step from design to manufacturing being completed in the heart of New York City, customers can be assured that each piece is of the highest possible quality.

After being featured on the new reality show, ‘All on the Line, featuring Elle Magazines’ very own Joe Zee, the brand now counts Nordstrom as a stockist of their much-coveted line. Taking this into account it perhaps comes as no surprise that Radenroro are already enjoying a huge amount of, much deserved, success.

BTW Radenroro gave us an exclusive sneak peek at their new handbags! Don’t forget to check them out below!

Q: What were your influences for the Fall/Winter season?

A: The best way to understand our influence is to check out the editorial look book on our website. The phrase “Raden Roro” in Indonesian (Liquica’s native language) translates literally to “little princess”. With this in mind, you’ll often see our looks mix sophistication with playful and youthful touches. Our prints are a great example of this. Each season we’ve themed them around objects that are special or significant in a girl’s life. Last spring we did a diamond print that was really popular, this fall we did our Teddy Bear print, and for S/S 2012 we are continuing the theme with an abstract unicorn themed print.  Working with Joe Zee on Sundance’s All on the Line show was also helpful as it encouraged us to really embrace these concepts and run with our ideas.

Rumor Squashed: Nope, No Galliano for Topshop!

Sorry Betches.

We all got excited at the prospect of Galliano and Topshop teaming up but the British retailers took to Twitter to imply that it was all BS by saying: “It’s incredible how rumors get started!” Later Sir Philip Green (Topshop owner) explained to Vogue, “I saw John Galliano at Kate’s wedding last Friday. I did not discuss any business with him then, nor have I since.”

Then Galliano’s people decided to spoil any remnants of hope when they said, “His only focus for the foreseeable future is concentrating on his rehab. There is no truth in this rumour.”

Well, damn.

Galliano Finds a Replacement

John Galliano Resort 2012

Nope! He hasn’t been replaced at Dior just yet but it has been revealed that John Galliano has named Bill Gaytten to take over the creative director position at his John Galliano label.

“It’s the same job for me; I’ve been doing it for a long time,” Gaytten tells WWD. “[ The menswear show] was a bit different because John wasn’t there. I’m dying to know what he thinks!”

Bill, I’m pretty sure he’s going to love the collection considering everybody on the runway looked exactly like him.

Azzedine Alaïa on Karl Lagerfeld: ‘I don’t like his fashion, his spirit, his attitude’

Come at me bro.

I don’t like his fashion, his spirit, his attitude. It’s too much caricature. Karl Lagerfeld never touched a pair of scissors in his life. That doesn’t mean that he’s not great, but he’s part of another system. He has capacity. One day he does photography, the next he does advertisements for Coca-Cola. I would rather die than see my face in a car advertisement. We don’t do the same work. And I think that he is not doing a favor to young stylists who might think it works that way. They’re going to fall before they retire.”

-Azzedine Alaïa reveals in an interview with Virgine Magazine.
