A nice T-strap heel is something worth adding to your shoe collection. Why? Well, its sandal-y vibe works great in the warmer seasons and the shoe looks way proper when paired with tights come winter and fall. T-straps were prevalent in the Spring-Summer 2012 collections of many fashion houses including Chanel, Calvin Klein, Karen Walker and Pucci as well as on celebrities like Mila Kunis and Katie Holmes, both looking very lady-like when they stepped out wearing ‘em. Go ahead and choose a dainty pair like Mila and Katie or be bold in some chunky platforms.

Peplum tops and dresses are dominating the spring and summer seasons and that’s no surprise considering the trend made its way on the runway of virtually every S/S 2012 collection shown. In turn, peplums have been spotted on celebs like Gwen Stefani and Scarlett Johansson not to mention a whole bunch more. The cool thing about this hourglass-creating cut is that it’s pretty easy to find everywhere from department stores to affordable fast-fashion chains.
From the spring runways to celebs like Mila Kunis and Solange Knowles, metallic cap-toe heels are having a pretty major moment this season. Whether you like a gold-toe like Mila in Christian Louboutin or prefer a silver option like Solange’s Stuart Weitzman heels, there are a ton of color-ways and patterns at different price-points out there to choose from.

Inspiration: With references to “parades” and “good times”, Rossella Jardini has produced another unashamedly glamorous collection for Moschino. Signature motifs such as heavy gold embellishment and super sharp tailoring are present, whilst colour blocking and ski influences are also thrown into the mix.
Top Trends: Featuring on almost every look, it’s safe to say that if one trend dominated the Moschino A/W 2012 collection it was gold detailing. Zips, chains, military style buttons, you name it, all were placed strategically to make a major statement. Proving classics never go out of style, monochrome pieces were playful yet chic, showcasing new takes on suiting and the ever popular LBD.
Accessories: The Italians never do things by halves and this includes accessorising. Large gold hoop earrings, platform leather ankle boots and oversized hair bows combined to keep pieces youthful and fun. Quilted, chain handle bags, large brimmed fedora hats and the much coveted gold letter ‘MOSCHINO’ belts were also featured, providing a selection of seriously lust-worthy accessories which were every bit as desirable as the clothes.
Favourite Looks: Moschino is always a personal favourite come show season, managing to continually produce collections which are full of ‘favourite looks’. The quilted leather mac is an amazing twist on an iconic wardrobe staple and would no doubt look perfect dressed up or down. Proving that it wasn’t just black making a bold statement, the final look, an amazing pink cocktail dress covered in oversized ruffles, referenced the collections’ influence of “good times” perfectly. Not to mention it was modelled by girl of the moment, Cara Delevigne, a match made in fashion heaven.
Thoughts: Following the rule of ‘If it’s not broken, don’t fix it’, this collection was unabashedly Moschino, through and through. A continuous subtle reinvention of brand motifs sees the design house remaining true to itself and its heritage whilst simultaneously pushing it forward with experimentation in regards to new references and colour palettes. What is immediately apparent is that Creative Director, Jardini, really gets the brand as well as its audience, which is often an incredibly difficult feat to achieve. What has been produced this season is a well-executed collection full of exquisite looks which are totally Moschino and that is never a bad thing…

Starfish are kind of a big deal this season with designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Trina Turk and Versace rolling out rings inspired by the sea creatures. Want to buy one of the high-end ones? We do too but we kind of can’t spend $400 on one so we found a cool alternative at H&M for the cost of a latte instead. Not bad huh?

If you’ve been working on your abs (not me) all winter then you’re probably ready to show them off come spring and summer. A ton of designers incorporated midriff-baring looks in their SS12 collections and celebs like Jessica Szhor, Rihanna and Alexa Chung are all fans of the crop top-skirt combo. Will you be stepping out with your midsection on display?
