Inspiration
Araki’s Sensual Flowers series led Prabal Gurung to focus on gorgeous floral prints. The idea came to life via his collaboration with a London-based printmaker.
Top Trends
Varying shades of purple-lilac, violent, lavender, and burgandy ruled Prabal’s runway this season. There was also a heavy focus on peek-a-boo elements, both in the garments and the accompanying shoes.
Accessories
Heels that were reminiscent of a ballerina, but in a tougher leather-and-mesh kind of way, perfectly complimented Prabal’s line by playing to the idea of soft materials mixed with hard.
Favorite Looks
His lilac dress with the waist cut-outs and net bottom….I mean, come on. Between that and Prabal’s dress with a metallic sleeveless top and splattered sheer white skirt, it is tough to beat Mr. Gurung.
Thoughts
I, like seemingly everyone at NYFW, found Prabal’s collection to be one of the most inspiring shown for the Spring 2012 RTW season. Although several of the looks may be considered to be a bit too dramatic for the every day consumer, we are sure to see celebrities rocking Prabal’s most recent looks in the near future.

Inspiration: We can’t tell you what Marc Jacobs‘ inspiration for his Spring 2012 collection is but if we had to guess it would be something along the lines of futuristic flapper meets cowgirl who likes to wear gingham prints sometimes. Ah, as if we needed anymore reason to love MJ right?
