Beauty Report: Shades of Blue

Blue eyeshadow has the tendency to scare us and generally leaves us with worries of looking clownish or  probably feeling a bit ridiculous on our skin-tone but as of late, with the proper application and contrasting colors, indigo-dressed eyelids are something we’re totally coveting right now.

As seen on celebrities varying in age like Lea Michele, Emily Blunt and SJP to a slew models of different complexions walking the runways of Zac Posen, Betsey Johnson and Douglas Hannant, these blue hues are proving to look great on just about anyone so long as you find a complimentary set of shades.

Steve Madden Loans Betsey Johnson Money but Might Just End Up Owning the Entire Line Itself

Betsey is such a cutie!

Steve Madden has stepped in to save Betsey Johnson from her debt by loaning her $48.8 Million. If she doesn’t pay him back by 2012 Madden will likely be possessing all things “Betsey Johnson”.

“Madden already holds a license for handbags, small leather goods, belts and umbrellas under the Betsey Johnson and Betseyville trademarks. The collateral for the loan includes the company’s intellectual property, so Madden could be in line for the labels it holds as licensee. Also included among the items securing the loan are “the borrower’s personal property, accounts, deposit accounts and cash, equipment, fixtures, general intangibles, goods [and] inventory.”

This makes me feel bad and want to buy a ton of Betsey Johnson stuff even though I haven’t been cray cray for her since like freshman year of high-school (some of my first designer pieces of clothing were a few Betsey Johnson dresses.  Awww!) Debt sucks! Yeah never-mind Betsey, I can’t buy more off your stuff to save you from debt because I kind of have to save myself.

The High-End Fashion Designer Hotel Craze

Hotel Missoni in Scotland

We all have heard buzz about the Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh and their latest location in Kuwait. There is also the ultra-fierce Maison Moschino in Milan which is set to open later this month and Betsey Johnson’s Eloise-inspired rooms at The Plaza Hotel in NYC. The latest designer to add hotels to her belt is Diane Von Furstenberg who is set to design some rooms at Cladridge’s in London and Giorgio Armani has hotels lined up for New York, Dubai and London. We’ve also got the ridiculously luxe Palazzo Versace in Australia and later Dubai.

For a tropical fix, there is Tortuga Bay in the Dominican Republic which has design touches by Oscar De La Renta and The Round Hill Hotel in Jamaica by Ralph Lauren, who is also a shareholder. Karl Lagerfeld and Victoria Beckham are going to be designing a hotel in Dubai and we’re almost scared about how fierce that duo is. Lastly, we can’t forget The Hotel in Miami, designed by Tod Oldham, The Hotel-Fashion Designer pioneer, having added the accomplishment to his repertoire back in 1999.

All this does is make us stressed out because our wallets are in a scary predicament when booking reservations because as of now, it seems as though designer hotels are the only hotels we will be checking into. I mean, it only makes sense right? Now someone donate us some money!
