Inspiration: This years’ couture-wearing, Elie Saab woman is radiantly feminine, wearing gowns adorned with unabashedly girly embellishments. The collection hints at the glamour of earlier eras, combined with a beautiful romanticism which results in an overall vibe of lady-like elegance.
Top Trends: Mr Saab ensured there was something for every discerning fashionista by utilising a wide ranging colour palette, showing selections of dresses in nudes, pastels and red, as well as black. Recurring embellishments included floral-like ruffles, draping and glistening sparkles, which adorned layers of sheer chiffon.

Accessories: The couture creations were mostly left to speak for themselves, with next to no accessories used. Lace peep-toes with vertiginous heels, and sash-like belts tied into bows were all that was needed to complements the gowns.
Favourite Looks: With 41 looks in the collection, choosing favourites can prove quite tricky. Personally, I think some of the standout looks were to be found in the nude palette, with my favourites including the strapless number, embellished with floral ruffles on the bodice and the skirt, as well as the shimmering gown with three-quarter length sleeves and cut-out boat neck.

Thoughts: The couture collections are always some of the most exciting, come show season. This was a concept not lost on Elie Saab. A beautiful, well-rounded collection was the result of Saab’s efforts, creating elegant, glamorous pieces, which showcased a clear use of couture craftsmanship. Overall it was an exquisite collection, whose pieces would no doubt feel at home on red carpets the world over.
