Looks like Lindsay Lohan attempted to add “Fashion Journalist” to her repertoire before landing in the slammer. The actress wrote a bit for Blackbook Magazine’s September issue where she reveals her inspiration, career and how she’s been known to chop up a designer piece to make it her own. Fashion, to me, is an art of expression. It’s all about individual style, embracing who you are, and feeling good about what you wear. When you feel good about what you’re wearing, it shows. My goal is to design pieces that everyone can use to create a wardrobe that embraces who they are. I’ve been known to take scissors to some of my fave Balenciaga and Gucci designs to make them my own—cutting the collar to make a wider neck or shortening a dress—just a little something to make them unique and show my personality.

I feel so fortunate that my career allows me to travel all over the globe. I love hunting for Chanel handbags when roaming around London and Paris. I get inspiration from everywhere: shoot locations, movies, art, books, old magazines. I love vintage styling and fashion history and have studied and gained tons of ideas from the classic fashions of the ’20s, ’30s, and ’40s. I love to give vintage pieces a modern edge by blending rock ’n’ roll looks with feminine lace or modern accessories.
My fashion line, 6126, salutes modern women who understand that sophistication is always in vogue. Inspired by the iconic Marilyn Monroe and the timeless, confident glamour her memory represents, 6126 is named after her birth date. The confidence and sophistication Monroe exuded is something we don’t see today. It has been a dream come true to be so involved and hands-on in creating something I am so passionate about. When I designed the 6126 collection, I wanted to make pieces that any woman can mix and match to create her own sense of style—for example, mixing our sequin shorts with combat boots.
Yes, I really did try on every piece of the collection to make sure it had the right feeling and fit. It is really important that the products speak to my vision and pay respect to my icon, Marilyn Monroe.

Think she’s credible? There’s no denying that she was at one point quite the trendsetter.
